Filter Starter Gel Balls are biodegradable polymer gel balls which dissolve slowly, releasing millions of live bacteria into your filter, the most efficient way to seed a new filter with beneficial bacteria as they dissolve slowly and release a measured dose of live bacteria into the filter. As the balls dissolve slowly they release a measured dose of bacteria for natural colonisation which is much better than dumping in a load of bacteria in liquid form which creates a ‘boom/bust’ scenario. The balls will dissolve faster when ammonia and nitrite are present in the water so they are perfect for adding to a new system when cycling the tank and also when replacing filter media as it will ensure that any rise in ammonia and nitrite is quickly processed before it reaches dangerous levels.

Simply add to the filter media after filter maintenance or when adding new media. Use a minimum of 1 ball per 20 litres to seed new filters. You cannot overdose with this water treatment.
