Biohome is one of the best aquarium filter media you can get. After much research found it on Cody Impex. Don’t forget to add in Filter media starter balls with it, to kick start a faster process.

So far so good, I have no way of knowing yet if this is starting to grow beneficial bacteria, but it’s very well constructed and extremely porous so I expect it to work very well.

Penn-Plax Cascade 500 Canister Filter

A canister filter is the way to go. One thing I like is that I can lower the flow when I feed my fish; I can’t do that with a hang on the back filter. The two baskets allow you to choose the media you use. It keeps the water in my aquarium crystal clear. The set up was easy. The filter has a pump to prime the filter which works great. This one has no leaks and no problems. I am very satisfied.

Great Product! I was having issues with my tank having spikes and mini cycles and always staying a bit cloudy. This is even with water changes, etc. I tossed some of these in and with in 3 days my tank was crystal clear & has remained so. I scooted the sand around and made a little valley to sit this bridge in. Anyway, good looking ornament, no trouble with the material or anything.

Its Awesomely small, I was so surprised to see an adjustment for the flow rate! Love this little filter! My turtle loves to go near it and swim against the current lol! Super strong for a filter this size and does well horizontal or vertical in the tanks. Great for what it is: miniature, budget, mechanical / bio filter.
